Pumping Projects Surge in South Carolina
The Myrtle Beach branch of Thompson Pump celebrates a decade in the same location this month. The original Myrtle Beach site opened in 2006.
The branch, located at Conway SC, is one of 20 Thompson Pump branches nationwide, with its corporate headquarters located in Port Orange, Florida.
Myrtle Beach managers stated that they are seeing an increase in sales and rental demands in 2017, which point to a strong pump season ahead. “It’s definitely a robust market right now,” Tim Creech, Thompson Pump Mid-Atlantic Region Manager, said.
Under the direction of industry veteran, Tim Creech, and Branch Manager, Mike Walters, the branch provides a full line of Thompson Pump products for sale or rental and the knowledge to provide solutions for the toughest dewatering, bypass and special pumping applications.
Creech joined the Thompson Pump team in the mid-70s and has over 40 years of professional experience in the pump industry. “I always worked in The Carolinas and Virginia,“ the pump expert said. “It’s my home.” Creech and his wife have three grown children and three grandchildren. He enjoys the pump industry and takes pleasure in traveling between the three branches that he manages in South Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia.
According to Creech, the Myrtle Beach branch serves about 200 customers, including local municipalities, in South Carolina. The location sits on a 2.5-acre site and offers a 6000 square foot facility that includes a showroom, office, workshop and sales department.
Mike Walters, Myrtle Beach Branch Manager, joined Thompson Pump in 2010 and brings decades of experience in equipment sales and management. His current territory covers 18 counties in the state of South Carolina and he oversees a staff of seven. “We have a very busy market here. Good mix of both pump sales and rentals.” Walters stated. “The most common work in this region is dewatering, construction work, sewer bypass and general pumping needs.” Walters provides pumping expertise for customers on job sites where his knowledge can immediately provide solutions to challenging applications. Walters, his wife, and their two sons have been living in Myrtle Beach since 1995.
Ray Jones, Myrtle Beach Sales Representative, started working with Thompson Pump 5 years ago, and he could not be happier with his Thompson Pump team. “We have such a great team here in Myrtle Beach,” Jones said. “It’s a mixed crowd of talented individuals, a couple new people, and a couple of old guys.” Prior to working at Thompson Pump, Jones spent several years working in various roles within the equipment rental industry.
