Thompson Pump Florence Mississippi Branch Servicing the Area for 40 Years
40 years ago, Thompson Pump opened the doors to the Florence, Miss., branch. Today, the family owned pump company has a total of 20 branches nationwide, with its corporate headquarters located in Port Orange, Florida.
The Jackson branch serves hundreds of customers through various regions in the state of Mississippi, Tennessee, Louisiana, and Alabama.
Regional Manager and pump expert Johnny Britt, currently oversees three branches, including Jackson - Mississippi, Biloxi – Mississippi, and Hammond, Louisiana. All Thompson Pump branches provides a full line of products for sale or rent as well as the expertise to provide solutions for dewatering, bypass and special pumping applications to both the private and public sectors.
Sales Manager Jim Templeton, also a veteran of the industry, joined the pump company in 1991 and thinks of Thompson Pump as family. “There are still a couple of guys left from the old days,” Templeton said. “It’s amazing to see how much the company has grown over the years.”
Templeton’s expertise focuses on various pumps, bypass and dewatering. He stated that the most common work that Thompson Pump performs in this region is the combination of utility, dewatering and sewage bypass. “Most of our customers are private business,” Templeton said. Jackson Branch Manager Brian Costello joined the branch last year, and has broad knowledge of pump applications. His current territory covers Mississippi, Tennessee, Louisiana, Alabama and he oversees a staff of ten. Currently, The Jackson branch has one single facility with nearly 10,000 square feet of space for the service shop, office and the warehouse.
Templeton said that the Jackson branch has a mixed group of talented individuals on board. “The main service guys have all been here for 10 plus years, and then we have some younger people who have been with us for a couple years.”
The branch offers seminars and training sessions to customers throughout the year. “Any time we rent something out, we will train at delivery,” Templeton explained. “When there is a purchase, we spend a good day with the customer to make sure they know how to service the equipment and how to operate properly.”
