Responsible for the supervision of Materials, Warehouse, Parts sales, Distribution, Purchasing and Shipping/Receiving areas
Visiting, selecting and evaluating suppliers and negotiating with them for best price, delivery, quality, support, pay terms, and freight terms
Negotiating with suppliers for the return of rejected materials, overstocked materials, obsolete materials and unscheduled shipments
Maintaining current parts and price database for proposals, cost studies, purchase order prices, inventory valuation, parts sales prices, PWO and MWO summaries, and price lists
A high level of proficiency with Navision, MS Word, Excel, Access or comparable software is required
High level of knowledge of inventory procedures, purchasing and logistics required.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
Two years’ experience in supervision of salaried and hourly employees required
Minimum three years Distribution experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
Location(s): Kansas City, KS and Florence, MS
Receptionist type activities, including but not limited to answering the telephone, taking, sending and routing messages and faxes, greeting and directing visitors, updating customer and vendor data.
Accounts Receivable related duties such as sending credit applications and contracts to customers and obtaining correct job information and insurance certificates
Assist other departments to insure information is communicated and relayed to insure correct order handling procedures are followed.
Maintain branch filing to insure documents are correctly filed, readily available and data verified.
Sort and distribute incoming mail; prepare outgoing mail. Insure that all paperwork reflecting the branch activity is sent as directed.
As assigned by Branch Manager, assist with Accounts Payable, Human Resource, and Service related activities.
Effective verbal and written communication
Basic bookkeeping, math, spelling, and grammar skills
Attention to detail and accuracy are a must.
Computer proficient, including use of word processing and spreadsheet programs, preferably Microsoft Works.
Entry level experience but busy office experience preferred.

Solicit sales and rentals to contractors, municipalities and industrial accounts for a complete line of dewatering and bypass pumps, equipment and accessories throughout the branch territory.
Educate customers and prospects on Thompson’s full line of pumps and equipment.
Promote and grow Thompson’s capabilities in the areas of equipment maintenance, service and repairs.
Make routine site visits, conduct product demos, represent Thompson at trade shows and attend bid conferences.
Coordinate Thompson’s industry-leading 24-hour service response.
Instruct customers on proper operation and use of equipment.
Supply all documentation necessary to support the organization’s ability to deliver, invoice and file “Notice to Owner” information.
Experience in sales and installing sewer by-pass and dewatering systems Experience in the sales or rental of portable construction pumps is highly desired.
Experience in the sales or rental of related portable/mobile construction equipment
A good mechanical aptitude and an understanding of the principles for diesel engines and pumps
Strong verbal and written communication skills and proficient mathematical skills
The ability to multi-task, think and react quickly under pressure is critical to this role.
Very good people and project management skills
An Associates’ Degree (preferred) or equivalent relevant experience
Required to lift up to 100 pounds of force occasionally
Supervise and participate in all shop and field activities including but not limited to; shop and field service of customer units and rental fleet units, equipment testing, and assuring that all rental equipment is maintained
Knowledge of electrical submersible pumps is a plus.
Supervisory experience & High School Diploma/GED required
